pi
AAW
2 October 1989 T
WI7d3N1nd1NN01 nN3
Ms. Eleanor Ratliff
Registered Environmental Health Specialist
Environmental Health Division
Q
San Joaquin County
Department of Public Health Services
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton CA 95201
GRUP£ DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, BROOKSIDE DEVELOPMENT SITE, AREA 3, Skald Jq) 0 ?91N
COUNTY, PROPOSED GROUND WATFR MONITORING WELLS
We have reviewed the work plan prepared by Levine-Fricke, dated 25 August
1989, for the installation of monitoring wells at this site. The proposal
includes installation and sampling of five ground water monitoring wells to
investigate the quality of ground water in the vicinity of a former above-
ground diesel tank and a former drum storage area.
the proposed monitoring well locations and depths appear adequate for this
phase of the investigation. However, we recommend that prior to report
preparation, a second round of sampling be conducted to verify the initial
results. Because the specific types of materials stored in the drum storage
area are not known, we request that the proposed analytical procedures be
modified to include total dissolved solids, general minerals and nitrates. If
contaminants are detected in the initial rounds of samples obtained from the
monitoring wells, additional investigation may be warranted.
Based on telephone conversations between Regional Board staff Grupe
Development Company's consultant, we understand there are other areas of this
property where discharges to ground water may have occurred. We request that
all available information on contaminants in other areas of the property be
submitted to this office. Areas of concern include underground storage tank
locations and the "garbage pit" identified on the site plan. Please note that
this garbage pit may be subject to other monitoring and closure requirements.
Any information regarding depth of this pit and types of wastes disposed of
should be submitted to this office for review by the appropriate regulatory
Section.
If' you should have any questions, please call me at (916) 361-5731 .
THOMAS D, NLLIIER
Engineering Geologist
TDP/tdp
it
