(AGE)
on December 2, 2003, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD)
stated that the above-referenced site could not be closed at this time. The extent of the
dissolved contamination in groundwater has not been defined. Concentrations of total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline as high as 170 micrograms per liter (ug/1) have been
consistently detected in groundwater from the furthest downgradient (north) monitoring
well N1W-8 located approximately 200 feet north of the former underground storage tank
(UST) since installation of MW-8 in October 2002. .A domestic well on the adjacent
property belonging to Hay Growers Association is located approximately 280 feet northeast
of the former UST. Analytical results of the water sample collected from the well were non-
detect, the one time the well was sampled in May 2001. Analytical results of the
groundwater samples from MW-7 located approximately 130 feet northeast of the former
UST location and located between the Hay Growers domestic well and the site were non-
detect except for 77 ug/1 of diesel and 0.88 ug/1 of toluene in the December 2002 sample,
and 0.87 ug/l of toluene in the June 2003 sample.
Submit a work plan to EHD by January 20, 2004 that will define the extent of the
contamination, provide information required for a site-conceptual model and a fate and
transport model that will calculate the time it takes for the dissolved plume to reach the
private well or any other receptors in the area. EHD also requests that the domestic well on
the Hay Growers Association property be sampled before the end of 4th quarter 2003 and
continue to be sampled on a quarterly basis. Please direct any question to Jeff Wong at (209)
468-0335.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
\
Jeffrey Wong, REHS Margaragorio, REH
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit N Supervisor
c: Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc. —Brian Millman
c: RWQCB,Central Valley Region—James L.
