(AGE) for the above referenced site.
Analytical results of the water sample collected from monitoring well ##2 (MW-2) were
130 ppb of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon as Gasoline (TPH-g) and 68 parts per billion
(ppb) of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon as Diesel (TPH-d), 19 ppb of Benzene, falling
from the highest concentrations of 5,800 ppb of TPH-g, 3,300 ppb TPH-d, and 1,200
ppb Benzene reported from the October 1998 sampling event.
The extent of the contamination in groundwater has not been defined. It is unknown
if migration of the groundwater contamination plume is the reason behind the
continuous reduction of concentrations of analytes detected in the monitoring well
water samples. On July 7, 1999, the Work Plan Addendum -June 1999 dated July 1,
1999 prepared by AGE, was approved by PHS/EHD with conditions. One of the
conditions was that the proposed work be commenced by August 30, 1999. The work
plan approval was sent to AGE via facsimile on.July 20, 1999. In a telephone
conversation, AGE requested an extension to the deadline to commence the proposed
work in your behalf. PHS/EHD agreed to extend the deadline to November 1, 1999.
In a telephone conversation on November 29, 1999, AGE again expressed that you are
unable to proceed with the proposed work due to financial reasons. AGE stated that
you had not received reimbursement for costs of the previous work performed from
the State Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund (the Fund), but would
proceed with the proposed work when you do. PHS/EHD agreed to delay the
commencement of the work. PHS/EHD cautioned that such delay cannot be
maintained indefinitely, and that the work must commence regardless of the status of
the Fund reimbursement. This work has not commenced to date.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
