Henry [EH]; Muniappa Naidu [EH]
Subject: FW: Hunot Retardant Co.
Celeste,
1. The soil and rinse water samples were analyzed for heavy metal toxicity characteristic and the water sample was
analyzed for heavy metals and fish bioassay toxicity characteristic. The test results do not show that the soil or rinse
water samples are hazardous waste. Heavy metals are characteristic hazardous waste and not listed hazardous
waste. When characteristic hazardous waste is diluted as in this case, it becomes nonhazardous waste if it does not
exhibit a hazardous waste characteristic.
2. 1 looked for a new MSDS for the LC95A and found a June 12, 2014 MSDS on the phoschek website (see attached pdf)
http://phoschek.com/product/phos-chek-lc95a-mv/
This MSDS lists a Fish Bioassay result of 435 mg/L using rainbow trout (an acceptable fish species for this test). This
result is<500 mg/L which makes LC95A a California hazardous waste.
12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Environmental toxicity
Coldwater fis4:96-hr LC57 Rainbow trout:435 mg4-,Practically Nontoxic
3. We don't have test results for the LC95A product that was dumped, so we don't know if it contains D004 (Arsenic), D006
(Cadmium) and D007 (Chromium) other than what was written in the Jan 28, 2013 MSDS (explained in the letter of
explanation).
Thank you,
Garrett Backus, Ld. Sr. REHS, CUPA programs
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 E Hazelton Ave,Stockton, CA 95205
t
