Since discovery and confirmation that total petroleum hydrocarbon impacts
are associated with the Old Valley Pipeline (OVP), an investigation(s) needs to be conducted to
determine the lateral and vertical extent of affected soil and assess impacts to groundwater.
In accordance with the Revised Consistent Technical Approach (CTA) to Site Evaluation and Decision-
Making document, ChevronTexaco needs to prepare and submit a Workplan for characterizing the
extent of soil and groundwater impacts that have been identified. The Workplan needs to describe the
methods used to define the lateral and vertical extent of affected soil and groundwater and include
sufficient data to assess potential health risks associated with petroleum hydrocarbons present at the site.
Additionally, a well survey needs to be conducted to obtain information for any groundwater production
wells that are being used for municipal, domestic, agriculture, industrial, and/or other uses within 2,000
feet along the site.
California Environmental Protection Agency
(0 ra
Recycled Paper
The energy challenge facing California is real.
