F , n
File No. A7-1909-J1 November 3, 1987
FIELD DRILLING PROGRAM
Three preliminary test borings were drille on the site at the approximate
locations shown on Figure 1. The test borlings were drilled on October 14,
1987 under the direction of Mr. Mike Var Horn, the project Geotechnical
Engineer for this report. Test borings no! . 1 and 3 were drilled to a depth
of approximately 20 feet below the existinc ground surface. Test boring no. 2
was drilled to a depth of 35 feet, in or er to assist in evaluating the
potential for liquefaction under at site. All test borings were drilled with
a truck mounted drill-rig with a six-inch diameter auger. Undisturbed soil
samples were obtained by hammering a standard "Modified California," three-
inch diameter sampler, or a standard "Tern ghi" sampler into the soil mass.
The hammering system consisted of a standard 130 pound hammer with a 30-inch
free fall stroke. Two bag P soil samples were also obtained at the locations
shown in Figure 1, Site Plan.
The Logs of the Test Borings, showing the .vertical distribution of the soil
units, the locations of the samples, blowc unt values and selected laboratory
test results are presented in Figures 2 through 5.
L3
ra
L
i
Lis
Applied Sall mecha»lcs
