F , n <br /> File No. A7-1909-J1 November 3, 1987 <br /> FIELD DRILLING PROGRAM <br /> Three preliminary test borings were drille on the site at the approximate <br /> locations shown on Figure 1. The test borlings were drilled on October 14, <br /> 1987 under the direction of Mr. Mike Var Horn, the project Geotechnical <br /> Engineer for this report. Test borings no! . 1 and 3 were drilled to a depth <br /> of approximately 20 feet below the existinc ground surface. Test boring no. 2 <br /> was drilled to a depth of 35 feet, in or er to assist in evaluating the <br /> potential for liquefaction under at site. All test borings were drilled with <br /> a truck mounted drill-rig with a six-inch diameter auger. Undisturbed soil <br /> samples were obtained by hammering a standard "Modified California," three- <br /> inch diameter sampler, or a standard "Tern ghi" sampler into the soil mass. <br /> The hammering system consisted of a standard 130 pound hammer with a 30-inch <br /> free fall stroke.
