Soil samples taken from under the USTs and dispensing
equipment indicated the presence of hydrocarbons. Spoil from the excavation was found to contain
P hydrocarbon contamination.
Clearwater Group submitted a Work Plan to install three soil borings with monitoring wells
constructed in the same boring. The work described in the Clearwater Work Plan was completed in
PW March of 1995.
f The excavation for the removal of the USTs was backfilled by Jim Thorpe Oil in April 1996. The
excavation spoil was used for backfill material.
C, {°
Foothill Engineering was requested by the owner to sample the three monitoring wells that were
101%,, installed by Clearwater at various times and the analysis of those samples is attached. Monitoring
c D wells MW-1 and MW-2 continue to contain high levels of gasoline contamination.MW-3 has much
r(f+ lower levels of gasoline contamination(see data sheet attached).
Proposed CPT Borings
The groundwater gradient of the three existing monitoring wells is to the northeast. The proposed
CPT borings are to be placed on a +/-100' radius from the center of the UST excavation. This is
about double the radius of the existing monitoring wells. CPT #1 is located just north of the UST
Page 1 of 3
