28 October 2011
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0682
Page 3 of 4
2 .3 . 2. Analytical Results of Vapor Samples
Influent SVE soil vapor samples were collected on 11 July and 09 August 2011 ; TPH-g
were reported in influent soil vapor samples at concentrations of 330 micrograms per liter
(Ng/1 ) and 190 pg/I , respectively.
TEX constituents were reported in the influent sample collected on 11 July 2011 at
concentrations of 5 . 0 pg/I toluene , 1 . 1 pg/I ethylbenzene and 6 .8 pg/I total xylenes .
Benzene and MTBE were not detected in any of the samples collected during the third
quarter 2011 .
No other constituents of concern were reported at or above detection limits in the above
influent soil vapor or effluent SVE air flow samples. Analytical results of SVE samples are
summarized in Table 2 . Laboratory reports (CTEL Project Nos . - 1107067 and - 1108072 )
and chain of custody forms are presented in Appendix B . GeoTracker confirmation
numbers 5899510204 and 6509338319 reference the upload of submitted laboratory
electronic deliverable format (EDF) files .
2 . 3 . 3 . Mass/Volume Calculations Of Recovered Petroleum Hydrocarbon Vapor
The hydrocarbon mass removed during the SVE operating period was calculated using the
equation : M = C •Q •t
where , M = cumulative mass recovered (kg )
C = vapor concentration (kg/m3)
Q = extraction flow rate (m3/hr)
t = operational period , in hours
Between 06 June and 11 August 2011 , the SVE unit operated a total of 1 ,437 hours . The
average analytical results of the influent SVE samples , average influent flow rates and the
operational period were used to calculate the approximate mass of extracted total
petroleum hydrocarbons during this period (Table 3 ) .
During the third quarter 2011 SVE operational period , the mass of hydrocarbons extracted
by the SVE system was calculated to be 104 . 6 pounds , or equivalent to a volume of
approximately 16. 7 gallons of gasoline . Volume/mass calculations of extracted
hydrocarbons are included as Appendix C.
Advanced GeoEnvironmentnl, Inc.
