it
30 July 2008
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0682
Soil samples collected from boring MW l l were analyzed for the following constituents :
• TPH-g, TPH-d and total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as oil (TPH-mo) in accordance
with EPA Method 8015M; and
• Full list total volatile organic compounds (VOC), including BTEX, MTBE, DIPE, ETBE,
TAME, TBA, EDB, and 1 ,2-DCA in accordance with EPA Method 8260B.
Sampling equipment was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed with water prior to each
sampling run to minimize cross-contamination.
2.2.2 . Soil Logging
Soil collected between 50 and 70 feet bsg was extruded from the remaining brass sleeves and
visually described in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS), as shown on
the boring logs provided in Appendix C.
2.2. 3 . Well Completions
Pilot borings MW9, MW 10 and MW 11 were completed as ground water monitoring wells of the
same designations using 2-inch diameter polyvinylchloride (PVC) casing with 0.0104nch slotted
screen installed from 60 to 70 feet bsg. The filter pack (No . 3 Lonestar sand) was installed from 58
to 70 feet bsg; the filter pack for well MW- 11 was comprised of both No . 3 and 2/12 Lonestar sand.
A 2- or 3-foot bentonite pellet plug was installed above the filter pack and hydrated. Wells were then
grouted to near surface grade with portland cement. Water-tight, traffic-rated well boxes were
installed over the wells . As-built well diagrams are depicted on the boring logs in Appendix C.
2.2.4 . Monitoring Well Development and Sampling
On 20 and 21 March 2008, monitoring wells MW-9, MW40 and MW- 11 were developed utilizing
a Waterra inertia pump and steel bailer. Ground water was purged from each monitoring well until
it was visually sediment-free; between 64 and 67 gallons of water were removed from each well.
Purged ground water was containerized in properly labeled, DOT-approved 55-gallon drums and
stored on- and off-site. Monitoring well development field logs are provided in Appendix D.
Following well development, the newly installed monitoring wells were sampled as part of the first
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
