but no iron were sampled later than tests containing iron. Reagents were added to soil and
groundwater in a glass reactor. Each reactor was connected to a Tedlar bag in order to
collect off=gases. After 24-48 hours, the aqueous and gases phases were analyzed for
GRO. Treated soil was not analyzed due to the difficulty of sampling soil without losing
significant contaminants to volatilization.
Table 1 . Soil, groundwater, and reagents were
placed in a glass reactor fitted with a single hole-stopper and connected to an inverted
container filled with water. The soil to liquid ratio was 2 : 1 . As H2O2 decomposed, the
off-gases formed displaced the water in the cylinder. The amount of water displaced was
recorded as a function of time. This information can be used to estimate the longevity of
H202in the field.
2.5 Effect of Oxidants on Secondary Water Quality
To assess the affect of each oxidant system on secondary water quality, the aqueous
phases from the COC Removal tests (Section 2 .4) were analyzed for
- Cr(VI),
Iron, manganese + CAM 17 metals
ORP,
pH
sulfate
PRIMA Environmental, Inc. 8 Eva] of Peroxide
February 8, 2007 Cambria—G Street, Davis
