Site Background Information: Stallworth Auto Sales <br /> Page 2 of 9 <br /> After removal, laboratory analysis of soil samples collected from the floor of the UST excavations <br /> and dispensers areas detected total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) were reported in soil <br /> collected beneath the 3,000-gallonleadedUST at a concentration of 13 ,400milligramsperkilogram <br /> (mg/kg); BTEX compounds were reported at concentrations as high as 260 mg/kg. In addition, total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-d) was reported in the soil sample collected beneath the <br /> diesel UST at a concentration of 29 mg/kg. <br /> Background concentrations of total lead were detected in soil samples P- 1 , P-2, 3N and 3S . LUFT <br /> metals were detected inthe soil sample collected beneath the formerwaste oilUST at concentrations <br /> as high as 50 mg/kg (zinc) . <br /> l <br /> si <br /> PREVIOUS SITE ASSESSMENT AND SAMPLING <br /> 1 <br /> On 08 February 2000, three soil probe borings (134 through B-3) were advanced at the site as part <br /> of preliminary site assessment activities: <br /> • TPH-g was detected in soil samples analyzed from probe borings B4 through B-3 at <br /> concentrations as high as 12,000 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg), TPH-d was detected at <br /> concentrations as high as 4,900 mg/kg, and BTEX compounds were detected at <br /> concentrations as high as 1 ,900 mg/kg respectively. The highest benzene concentration <br /> encountered was 4.2 mg/kg. <br /> • One grab groundwater sample collected from B- 1 was analyzed for TPH-g, TPH-d, BTEX <br /> and the suite of five fuel additives by EPA Method 8260 Modified. TPH-g and TPH-d were <br /> detected in the grab ground water sample at concentrations of 425,000 micrograms per liter <br /> (µg/1) and 9,900 µg/1, respectively. BTEX compounds were detected at concentrations of <br /> 15,000 µg/l, 48,000 µg/1, 3,200 µg/l, 55,000 gg/l, respectively. No fuel oxygenates were <br /> detected in the ground water sample analysis. <br /> On 23 and 24 May 2000 five ground water monitoring wells (MW- lA, MW- 1B and MW-2 through <br /> MW-4) were installed at the site. MW- 1A and MW-2 are screened from 30 feet to 50 feet bsg, and <br /> MW- 1B, MW-3 and MW-4 are screened from 20 feet to 40 feet bsg. <br /> • A total of 13 soil samples were analyzed for TPH-g, TPH-d, BTEX and the suite of five fuel <br /> additives by EPA Method 8260 Modified. <br /> • One TPH-g and TPH-d were detected in analyzed soil samples from boring MW- 113 at <br /> concentrations as high as 6, 100 mg/kg and 2,600 mg/kg, respectively. BTEX compounds <br /> were detected in boring MW- 113 soil samples at concentrations as high as 16 mg/kg, 220 <br /> mg/kg, 67 mg/kg and 360 mg/kg, respectively.
