r . R <br /> i <br /> Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report <br /> EMIL'S LIQUORS <br /> 1405 California Street, Escalon, California <br /> 1.0. INTRODUCTION <br />' In accordance with the request of Mr. Robert Lease of Emil's Liquors,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, <br /> q <br />' Inc. (AGE) has prepared this Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report (PIER) for 1405 <br /> California Street (the site), Escalon, California. The scope of work included advancement of two <br /> soil borings and collection and analysis of soil and ground water samples. The location of the site <br /> I and its surroundings are illustrated on Figure 1; major features on the site and soil probe boring <br /> locations are illustrated on Figure 2. <br />' This investigation was performed in accordance with guidelines of the San Joaquin County Public <br /> Health Services - Environmental Health Department (PHS-EHD) and of the California Regional <br /> Water Quality Control Board - Central Valley Region for the investigation of underground storage <br /> Itank (UST) sites. <br /> 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> The site is at 1405 California Street, Escalon, California(Figure 1) on the southeast corner of',.Main <br /> Street (Highway 120) and California Street (Figure 2). The parcel is identified by the San Joaquin <br /> County Assessor as parcel number 227-070-31. <br />' 2.1. SITE DESCRIPTION <br />' The site is occupied by Emil's Liquor Store (aka Emil's Sport and Bait Shop or Emil's Liquor Sport <br /> Shop), which stored and distributed diesel fuel and unleaded gasoline for retail sale. The <br />' underground storage tank (UST) facility of the service station consisted of two 6,000-gallon <br /> unleaded gasoline USTs, one 2,000-gallon diesel fuel UST, one approximately 85-gallon waste oil <br /> tank, and one fuel dispenser island (Figure 2). The diesel fuel and gasoline USTs were located in the <br />' northwest corner of the site. The waste oil UST and the fuel dispenser island were located along the <br /> northern portion of the site approximately 25 to 30 feet east of the three fuel USTs. <br />' The surface of the site, surrounding the area of the former USTs and fuel dispenser island, was <br /> covered entirely with asphaltic concrete.
