Emil's Liquor& Spy.. <br /> 1405 California Street, Escalon, California May 26, 1993 <br /> Phase H Report of Findings Page 2 <br /> Each soil boring was, upon completion, sealed with granular bentonite from a depth of twenty <br /> five feet (25) to a depth of twenty two feet (22'). The remainder of each boring was <br /> backfilled by Trimmie method to the surface using a Neat cement and sand grout. All soil <br /> cuttings were containerized and stored on-site to await disposition. <br /> 4.0 Geology <br /> The stratigraphy of this site is characterized by interbedded sands and silts. The upper sand is <br /> a micaceous dark-brown silty sand averaging six feet (6') thick. Underlying this is a very <br /> micaceous dark-brown, very sandy, clayey silt averaging six feet (6). The next sand has an <br /> upper very micaceous medium to coarse-grained, gravely sand averaging six feet (6') thick, <br /> with a lower clean, gravely medium to coarse-grained loose sand averaging four feet (4) thick. <br /> The only exception to the otherwise fairly uniform bedding is a two foot (2') thick very sand;, <br /> clayey silt between the two lower sands in B-1 and B-4 (Figure 3). This silt unit pinches out <br /> to the west. The lowest bed is a dark-brown moderately sandy, clayey silt. <br /> No hydrocarbon odors or water bearing zones were encountered in any boring. Detailed <br /> lithologic boring logs can be found in Appendix A. The ground water underlying this site has <br /> been determined to be at approximately seventy-eight feet (78') of depth in the local area of <br /> this site. <br /> 5.0 Analytical laboratory and Findings <br /> Soil samples collected from this investigation were submitted to Geo Monitor Laboratories of <br /> Hesperia, California, a state certified laboratory, for analysis. <br /> The EPA methods of analysis are EPA method 8020 for Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl-Benzene and <br /> Total Xylenes. Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gas and Diesel employ EPA method 8015 <br /> modified (LUFT). <br /> All soil samples submitted for laboratory analysis appear to be free of petroleum hydrocarbon <br /> contamination in the field and were found to be "non-detect" in he laboratory analysis. This is <br /> supported by the certificate of analysis found in Appendix B of this report. <br /> 6.0 Conclusions and Recommendations <br /> After a complete review of all the data at hand, from both field and laboratory, no evidence has <br /> been found to indicate that the subsurface underlying this site has been impacted in an adverse <br /> manner as to pose a threat to the environment or to human health as a result from underground <br /> fuel storage tanks, pumps and underground product Iines located on this site. Therefore, it is <br /> the opinion of the writer that no fsrther investigative work is warranted or necessary at this <br /> site at this time. <br />
