Preliminary Site Assessment Work Plan <br /> August 1998 <br /> EMIL'S LIQUOR STORE <br /> 1405 California Street, Escalon, California <br /> 1.0. INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request of Mr.Robert Lease,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc (AGE)has prepared this Work <br /> Plan for assessment of the Emil's Liquor Store located at 1405 California Street in Escalon, <br /> California(site). The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1 -Location Map. A plan of the site <br /> is illustrated on Figure 2 - Site Plan. <br /> This Work Plan has been prepared as required by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services - <br /> Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) in a letter to Mr. Lease (property owner) dated 09 <br /> February 1998. Additionally,this work plan is prepared in accordance with PHS-EHD and Central <br /> Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) guidelines for the investigation of <br /> underground storage tanks (UST) sites. <br /> The purpose of this site assessment is to evaluate the lateral and vertical extent of petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon impacts to soil and groundwater at the site. This Work Plan provides a description of <br /> the scope of work and procedures to be used in soil probe borings, soil and groundwater sample <br /> • collection and analysis, and soil boring abandonment. <br /> 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> The site is at 1405 California Street, Escalon, California(Figure 1) on the southeast corner of Main <br /> Street(Highway 120) and California Street(Figure 2). The parcel is identified by the San Joaquin <br /> County Assessor as parcel number 227-070-31. <br /> 2.1. SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The site is occupied by Emil's Liquor Store (aka Emil's Sport and Bait Shop or Emil's Liquor Sport <br /> Shop), which stored and distributed diesel fuel and unleaded gasoline for retail sale. The <br /> underground storage tank (UST) facility of the service station consisted of two 6,000-gallon <br /> unleaded gasoline USTs, one 2,000-gallon diesel fuel UST, one approximately 85-gallon waste oil <br /> tank, and one fuel dispenser island (Figure 2). The diesel fuel and gasoline USTs were located on <br /> the northwest corner of the site. The waste oil UST and the fuel dispenser island were located along <br /> the northern portion of the site approximately 25 to 30 feet east of the three fuel USTs. <br /> The surface of the site, surrounding the area of the former USTs and fuel dispenser island, was <br /> covered entirely with asphaltic-concrete.
