3164 Gold Camp Drive
Delta
Suite 200
Rancho Cordova,CA 95670-6021
Environmental 916/6.
/ Consultants,Ince 9161638-2085
FAX:9161638-8385
July 13, 2000
Mr. Tim Gallagher
City of Stockton
Department of Parks and Recreation
6 East Lindsay Street
Stockton, California 95202
Re: Authorization to Install Two Monitoring Wells in Oak Park, Adjacent to Alpine
Street in Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Gallagher:
On behalf of Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO), Delta Environmental Consultants,
Inc. (Delta) is conducting a subsurface environmental investigation at ARCO facility No.
2186, located at 3212 North California Street, Stockton, California. As part of the
investigation, San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Services (PHS/EHS) have requested that ARCO investigate the groundwater quality
north and northeast of site.
This letter is to request authorization for Delta and our subcontractors to drill two soil
borings and convert thein to 2" x 80' groundwater monitoring wells. The locations are
proposed in the lawn area of Oak Park., approximately 20 feet off the north curb line of
Alpine Avenue. The attached figure presents the location of the two proposed monitoring
wells (MW-6 and MW-7) in Oak Park. Additionally, these two wells will serve as
monitoring points between the ARCO facility and the two water wells (West and East
Park Wells)that are reportedly being used to maintain the lawn and grounds of Oak Park.
The soil borings will be drilled using a truck-mounted drill rig advancing 8-inch-diameter
hollow stem augers to a depth of approximately 80 feet below ground surface. A 2"
diameter PVC well will then be constructed within the soil boring.
Delta anticipates the work will be completed in approximately four days. Two
subcontractor personnel will operate the drill rig, and a geologist from Delta will be
present during drilling activities. Every effort will be made to keep the work area clean
and to restore the area to the original condition when the work is completed. We will
contact you to coordinate drilling operations to determine which day of the week is most
convenient. We have been asked by PHS/EHS to complete this work as soon as possible.
Our tentative schedule for installing the monitoring wells is the first week of August.
Providing a Competitive Edge
i
