V <br /> Limited Subsurface Investigation Report <br /> CALIFORNIA STREET MEDICAL BUILDING <br /> 1617 North California Street, Stockton, California <br /> 1.0. INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request ofMr.Charles Green of Walnut Street Medical Center,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, <br /> Inc. (AGE) has prepared the enclosed Limited Subsurface Investigation Report for 1617 North <br /> ' California Street, Stockton, California(site). The purpose of this investigation was to determine if <br /> any subsurface contamination is present as the result of the historical property use as a gasoline <br /> service station.The scope ofwork included establishment oftwo soil borings,collection and analysis <br /> of soil and `grab' ground water samples and preparation of this report of findings. The location of <br /> the site is illustrated on Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2. <br /> v <br /> 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> The site, located at 1617 North California Street in the City of Stockton, San Joaquin County, is <br /> situated in an area of mixed residential and commercial use. The property is presently occupied by <br /> a medical arts building, located on the western portion of the property, and a large parking area, <br /> comprising the eastern portion of the site. The property is located immediately west of St. Joseph's <br /> Hospital. <br /> 2.1. BACKGROUND/SITE HISTORY <br /> .r <br /> Research of historical fire insurance maps(Sanborn)of the site and surrounding area,indicates that <br /> the southern portion of the site was occupied by a gasoline service station from approximately the <br /> 1950s until the early 1970s. AGE has no information regarding the removal of the USTs nor <br /> associated sampling. A copy of the Sanborn Map is included as Appendix A. <br /> 2.2. PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS <br /> In 1994,a limited investigation was performed at the site by Northwest Envirocon,Inc.(NWEI).The <br /> limited investigation consisted of a geophysical survey and shallow hand auger borings with field <br /> screening of soil samples for organic vapors, in the area of the former gasoline station. Field <br /> observations of soil samples indicated that petroleum hydrocarbons maybe present in the subsurface <br /> at the site; however, no soil or ground water samples were submitted to a laboratory for analysis. <br /> A copy of the NWEI report is including as Appendix B. <br /> ...
