05/27/2004 09:38 20946717^—"' AGE STOCKTON PAGE 05/15
a
'p rrcyr.! 1617 North Cali iia Street
4,— February 15, 199!4
Page 3 -
i 4AA v
art rr.`I°
_
4.0 feet, a PID reading of 78 parts per million orpprn •was detected from the soil
1 boring cuttings. A strong solvent odor was also noted from this depth_
All soil cuttings were placed and properly securediinto one (l) 55 gallon drum on-
Site. The soil boring location map and soil boring logs are included in the appendix,
of this report.
,r t
'I
Conclusions and Recommendations
I 4,I
. Based on the limited field observations completed by NWE in correlation with the
geophysical survey completed by NORCAL, it appears that a UST is not present "
within close proximity of the geophysical anomalies delineated by NORCAL. It
appears that these anomalies are indicative of a cast uori pipe line or remnants of a
similar function.
Organic vapors were detected (78 ppm) at a depth of 4,0 feet in soil boring B-7,
which is near the southern portion of the anomalies_ These vapors appeared to have ti
an odor similar to that of solvents. The vertical and lateral extent of the possible ;
contamination could not be determined from this investigation, which is beyond the
scope of services. The origin of these organic vapors could not be ascertained at
{ the time of the on-Site investigation. NWE thereFore recommends further N
investigation on this matter_ It should be noted that an additional investigation of
such concern would require notification of the lead"regulatory agency.
i
LIMITATIONS
I Conclusions reached as the r.e,5ult of analysis done on suspect materials are .not
100% accurate. Error can occur in two forms: sampling error and cion-uniform
distribution of contaminates, if present, in materials that otherwise appear
homogeneous_ Northwest Envirocou conclusions a3.c based on limited field `
observations and other pertinent information previously acquired prior to this
investigation_
I i
If you have any questions, or if we can be',of further assistance, please call
us at (916) 649-3570_
Sincerel
y,
Jan R.
