INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request ofMr.Charles Green of Walnut Street Medical Center,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, <br /> Inc. (AGE)has prepared this Limited Subsurface Investigation Work Plan for the property at 1617 <br /> .North California Street,Stockton,California(the site).The work is being performed as part of a due <br /> diligence_for a property transfer. The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1. A plan of the site <br /> is illustrated on Figure 2. <br /> This work plan. was prepared as required by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health <br /> Department(EHD)for the procurement of a soil boring permit, and is in accordance with Appendix <br /> A to Tri-Regional Recommendations -Reporting, dated 30 August 1991,prepared.by the Central <br /> Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board for the investigation of underground storage tank <br /> (UST) sites. <br /> 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> The subject property,located at 1617 North California Street in the city of Stockton, California, is <br /> situated in an area of mixed commercial and light industrial use. Historical site usage research <br /> performed by AGE has indicated that the southeast portion of the site was-occupied by a gasoline <br /> service station from approximately the 1950s until the early 1970s. <br /> 2.1. PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS <br /> In 1994,a limited investigation was performed at the site by Northwest Envirocon,Inca(NWEI).The <br /> limited investigation consisted of a geophysical survey and shallow hand auger borings with field <br /> screening of soil samples for organic vapors, in the area of.the former gasoline station. Field <br /> observations of soil samples indicated that petroleum hydrocarbons maybe present in the subsurface <br /> at the site;however, no soil or ground water samples were submitted to a laboratory for analysis. <br /> The prominent features on the subject property are depicted in Figure 2. <br /> 2.2. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING <br /> The site is situated within the southern portion of-the'Great Val ` <br /> California, a large, elongate, northwest trending, asymmetric struct <br /> southern portions of the Province have been designated the Sacrame <br /> .respectively.The Province is bordered by the Coast Ranges to the wes <br /> Cascade Range to the north, and the Sierra Nevada to the'east. <br /> Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc. <br />
