11 August 2004
AGE-NC Project No. 04-1180
• Well development and sampling; and
• Report preparation
Monitoring well installation task are discussed beloi _
3.1. PRE-FIELD WORK TASKS
A health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health
Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).
Prior to mobilization, the area of excavation will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained
through Underground Service Alert.
3.2. DRILLING AND SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance one soil boring at the site using a truck-mounted, hollow-stem drill rig
equipped with 8.25-inch hollow-stem augers. The soil boring will be advanced for collection of soil
samples and installation of a ground water monitoring well. The monitoring well pilot boring will
be adwinced to approximately 55 feet below surface grade(bsg). The total depth of the boring may
vary according to hydrogeologic/geologic conditions encountered during drilling. The proposed
monitoring well location is illustrated on Figure 2.
Soil samples will be collected from within the 8.25-inch hollow-stem augers at five-foot intervals
using a California split-spoon sampler and brass sleeves. Selected soil samples may be analyzed by
a State of California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following
constituents:
• TPH-g in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• BTEX in accordance with EPA Method 8260B; and
• The fuel additives ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in
accordance with EPA Method 8260B.
Laboratory reports of soil sample analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality
control(QA/QC)reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
