S E C O R
Groundwater Sampling Procedures
The sampling procedure for the well included measuring the water level, and checking for the presence of
separate-phase hydrocarbons (SPH), using either an electronic indicator and a clear Teflon® bailer or an
oil-water interface probe The well was purged of approximately three casing volumes of water (or to
dryness) using a centrifugal pump, gas displacement pump, or bailer The equipment and purging method
used for the current sampling event were noted on the attached field data sheets During purging,
temperature, pH, and electrical conductivity were monitored in order to document that these parameters
were stable prior to collecting samples A groundwater sample was collected using a Teflon® bailer,
placed into appropriate EPA-approved containers, labeled, logged onto a chain-of-custody document, and
transported on ice to a California state-certified laboratory
Laboratory Procedures
Selected soil samples were analyzed for the presence of TPHg, BTEX, and MtBE by EPA Method 82608
(Single Run) Four samples collected from the drummed sod were composited at the laboratory, and
analyzed for the presence of TPHg, BTEX, and MtBE by EPA Method 8260B (Single Run), and total lead
by EPA Method 6010B
Groundwater samples were collected by SECOR following well development, and were analyzed for the
presence of TPHg, BTEX, fuel oxygenates (MtBE, TAME, DIPE, EtBE, TBA, and ethanol), 1,2-DCA, and
EDB using EPA Method 82608
Soil Cuttings and Purge Water
Soil cuttings generated during drilling operations were stored onsite pending characterization The sod
was removed from the site by Manley, a California-certified disposal contractor, and transported to
Forward in Manteca, California on January 8, 2003
AssmtRpt doc
