0 i joslyz
D
DEL-TECH Geotechnical Support Services NOV 1 71993
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
Mike Infurna, REHS November 16, 1993
San Joaquin County Public Health Dept.
1601 East Hazelton Ave. / P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA. 95201
RE: SADDLE CITY SITE 6421 PADDOCK PLACE LODI, CA.
Mr. Infurna,
Enclosed is the monitoring well summary report of the October 7 , 1993 event at the above
referenced site. Upon your review you will note that Monitoring Well #3 has a concentration of
benzene at 1.9 Parts Per Billion (PPB) in the first sample (3A) and a 1.0 PPB concentration in
the duplicate sample (313), which exceeds the San Joaquin Public Health threshold of .5 PPB.
Our goal now is to recommend a course of action that will satisfy the criteria of the San Joaquin
County Public Health Department (SJCPH) as is deemed necessary to authorize the site's closure
or possibly a conditional closure.
In discussing the options to remedy the issue of the low level of benzene in the water at MW-3
we have decided to approach the situation in either of two ways, listed below.
The attached letter by Geological Technics provides an outline of the two proposed alternatives.
1.) Site Risk Assessment Study
2.) Aquifer Testing / Groundwater Pumping & Monitoring Routine (48 Hour Minimum)
At the request of my client Mr. Cecil Dillon, we would like to schedule a meeting between
ourselves and SJCPH to discuss these options. My associate Ray Kablanow of Geological
Technics will be present along with Mr. Dillon. We are requesting that you and either Diane
Henson or Ron Valinoni be present at this meeting.
Please contact me upon receiving the attached report so as to schedule our meeting at the earliest
time available.
Sincerely,
,
Donald E.
