Recommendations
6421 Paddock Place, Lodi
Project 166.2
November 16,1993
Page 3
The following are recommended as a guideline for this work.
Preliminary
• Meet with regulators to discuss this project, the scope of work to be performed,
and the specific outcome desired that will provide sufficient evidence to the
regulators to bring closure to this site or possibly conditional closure.
• Develop a workplan describing the testing procedures that would be performed
and the results that will be expected from the testing.
• Obtain approval of the workplan.
Aquifer Test
• Measure initial water level, collect a round of groundwater samples from the
three monitoring wells, and test for TPH-gasoline and BTEX.
• Install submersible pump (capable of pumping 0.1-10.0 gallons per minute) in
MW-3, and pump at an optimum rate that will be determined during the course
of the test.
• Monitor drawdown in the monitoring wells at predetermined aquifer test
intervals.
• Collect groundwater samples from the extraction well at 6 hour intervals during
the pumping phase of the test and at the end of the pumping test at water level
recovery of 80 percent or more.
• Treat the pumped water with granular activated carbon and then discharge it to
the storm sewer system.
• Perform a final round of groundwater monitoring and sampling 30 days after
completion of the aquifer test.
Data Analyses
• Compile test data and use computer based modeling software to evaluate aquifer
characteristics.
• Evaluate chemical analyses data and groundwater model, and estimate the
remedial effectiveness of pumping.
• Generate report combining results of aquifer test data, analytical data, and
groundwater modeling.
Pursuit of Site Closure
• Provided the aquifer pumping test and resultant analytical data show that the
hydrocarbons have been removed from the aquifer by pumping and the 30 day
groundwater monitoring event shows non detect for TPH-gasoline and BTEX,
GTI recommends that the site be closed since it would no longer pose a threat of
degradation of the beneficial uses of the groundwater at this site.
• Abandon monitoring wells by adhering to appropriate regulations.
