Appropriate measures deemed <br /> necessary to prevent indirect. discharge into ground water (i.e. . via <br /> percolation through ground or subsoil) of these substances shall be <br /> taken by member countries. <br /> Directive on Fishint-Water Qual„ itv (536) <br /> Petroleum products must not be present in salmonid and cyprinid waters u, <br /> in such quantities that they: (1) form a visible film on the surface <br /> of the water or forst coatings on the beds of water-courses and lakes. <br /> (2) impart a detectable "hydrocarbon" taste to fish and, (3) produce <br /> harmful effects in fish. <br /> plrectiye on the Quality Reouired of Shellfish Waters (537) <br /> The mandatory specifications for petroleum hydrocarbons specify that j <br /> they may not be present in shellfish water in such quantities as to <br /> produce a visible film on the surface of the crater and/or a deposit on <br /> the shellfish which has• harmful effects on the shellfish. <br /> Directive on the Dj scharre of Dangerous Substances (535) <br /> Organchalogens. organophosphates, petroleum hydrocarbons, carcinogens <br /> or substances which have a deleterious effect on the taste and/or odor <br /> of human food derived from aquatic environments cannot be discharged <br /> into inland surface waters, territorial waters or internal coastal <br /> waters without prior authorization from taember countries which issue <br /> emission standards.
