This letter also serves to replace the Work Plan portion of the Soil and
Groundwater Investigation Report and Work Plan, prepared by Pacific Environmental
Group, Inc. (PACIFIC), dated November 24, 1997. The purpose of this work is to
further characterize the hydrogeology in the site area and evaluate the lateral and
vertical extent of hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater onsite and offsite. The data
gathered during this phase of work will be utilized in locating future groundwater
monitoring wells offsite and for determining the depth of those wells.
SITE BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS
The site is an operating Chevron Service Station located on the northwest corner of
Washington Street and South Center Street in Stockton, California, and is within an area
of primarily commercial use. Topography in the area of the site is relatively flat and the
site is approximately 12 feet above mean sea level. The nearest surface water bodies are
the Mormon Slough located approximately 1/4-mile south of the site, the Yacht Harbor
located approximately 1/4-mile north of the site, and the Port of Stockton located
3050 Fite Circle,Suite 204, Sacramento, CA 95827 (916)364-1880(916)364-1889 FAX www.secorcom
