Box 2912 <br /> Mission, KS 66202 01 1I1 <br /> 2 4 1987 <br /> Dear Mr. Landon: ENFER ME,v_FAL HEALTH <br /> /SERVICES <br /> EPA REFERRAL - MCTC STOCKTON FACILITY <br /> Because of recent legislative changes in the Comprehensive <br /> Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, <br /> specifically the passage of the Superfund Amendments and <br /> Reauthorization Act of 1986, we have requested that EPA assume <br /> the role as lead agency in overseeing Marley Cooling Tower <br /> Company's. (MCTC's) mitigation efforts. The Department will <br /> •remain active in reviewing the progress of the project and <br /> in evaluating whether state requirements are being met. We will <br /> �be working with EPA to ensure that its activities will be <br /> coordinated with the existing settlement agreement between your <br /> company and the State. <br /> With regard to the previous mitigation activities, the Department <br /> would like to extend a note of appreciation to the Marley cooling <br /> Tower Company for its continued efforts to remediate the <br /> consequences of past practices at the Stockton facility. <br /> Our project manager for the site will remain Jim Austreng at <br /> (916) 920-7644 .
