operate continuously except that a batch sample will be collected <br /> at the end of each operating day. That is, Steps 2 through 6 will <br /> be taken at the end of each operating day. Operations will not <br /> restart until on-site analysis of collected batch sample confirms <br /> treatment. At least one additional sample will be taken from the <br /> treated effluent line during the continuous operation portion of <br /> the operating day and will be analyzed for the parameters listed in <br /> Step 5. This daily batch and on-line testing will confirm <br /> continuing treatment effectiveness. <br /> Groundwater Operation <br /> 1. Initial groundwater operation will follow Steps 2 through 7 <br /> presented for pond water operation. <br /> 2. During the first 15 days of daily groundwater operation, continuous <br /> treatment will be interrupted to obtain daily batch samples as <br /> noted in Step 8 of the pond water operation description. <br /> Additional samples will be obtained and analyzed periodically <br /> during the operating day. During this daily operating period, it <br /> is expected that the system will approach breakthrough and require <br /> regeneration at least twice. <br /> 3. Operating results will be plotted and compared against the <br /> predicted performance curve at the measured influent concentration <br /> as indicated in Figure 1. <br /> 4. After confirmation of system operation and chromate analyzer <br /> functioning, the results of the startup testing will be presented <br /> to representatives of the State agencies before full continuous <br /> operation is commenced. Flow totalizer alarm points will be set <br /> during continuous groundwater operation as the primary indicator of <br /> the need for resin regeneration.
