Pond Closure
A. Pond Water Removal - Treatment of the Pond
Water has been much more difficult than
anticipated. The two problems are:
1. Arsenic very quickly comes through
the ion exchanger at levels in excess
of the NPDES permit requirements .
2 . Organic material plugged all the
filters and began to show up in
the ion exchanger.
Column and Jar test are currently being run
on pond water and storm water run-off to
determine what pre or post treatment may be
applied to eliminate these problems. Analysis
of storm water indicates that these problems
exist in the storm water run-off as well as
pond water.
B.
