initial coring and well construction and that well screen
intervals will be based on lithology, not on predetermined
lengths.
5 . Ref: page 7 of Attachment B:
(Re: page 4-9 of the Workplan)
The Department concurres with MCTC ' s response, however,
samples collected during "the established well sampling
schedule" i. e. , during the quarterly sampling round
must be analyzed for:
a. Total Chromium, hexavalent chromium, copper and
arsenic.
o In accordance with Title 40, Code of Federal
Regulations (40CFR) , Subpart 270 . 14 (c) (ii) , MCTC must
also analyze MW-5 and MW-6 samples for Appendix IX
constituents (See Federal Register, July 9 , 1987 for a
list of constituents) .
(Re: page 4-10 of the Workplan)
As indicated above, MCTC must sample and analyze selected
interior and exterior wells for hexavalent chromium, total
chromium, copper and arsenic. Limiting the quarterly
monitoring program to total chromium is unacceptable at this
time.
