I'm retiring and my last day of work is November 30. Until final decisions are made Nuel Henderson and Adrienne Ellsaesser will
bein charge of the LOP,so you can finalize meeting plans with them. Please send your templates to them for comment as well.
Their E-mail addresses are nhe_nderson@5jgehd com and aellsa_esser..@§jcehd..com. Some of the Chevron sites in San Joaquin
County have different Chevron contacts,so please send them a list of sites that you areahe contact for so they can discuss the
sites with the EHD contacts.
Thanks.
Subject:Chevron Portfolio Meeting
i
Hi Margaret,
I hope you are well. My apologies for the amount of time that has lapsed since we last spoke. I've been remiss
about making sure that our organizations are on the same page, being busy is no excuse for neglecting our
relationship and I'd like to change that.
I was hoping to get your input on two ideas I have for Chevron's portfolio of sites managed by San Joaquin
County.
Idea#1—Templates for common documents:
The last time we met,I walked away from our meeting with the general feeling that having 3-4 different
suppliers assigned to manage my sites in the County was adding unnecessary challenges to the sites. It was
my impression, that these challenges could,at times,be frustrating for your group. I appreciated that feedback
and, while I have internal restrictions that keep me from condensing my sites down to 2 suppliers,I thought
there might be another way to alleviate the challenge associated with that set up. So,I convened a group
consisting of the Project and Senior Manager from each organization that works in the County. Our goal was to
standardize the reports we submit to your group, and design them to include all elements of the Tri Regional
Guidelines Appendix A. It took a year, but we finally have a complete set of templates. Some of these
templates, like the QMR report, are already in use in the County by all of the suppliers managing my sites.
Before we finalize some of the other templates,I thought I'd see if you or your group would like the opportunity
to review and comment on any of the templates. That way,we can be assured that San Joaquin County
continues to receive consistent and quality deliverables.
Idea#2—Portfolio wide strategy meeting:
Since Chevron has 11 open environmental cases in San Joaquin County, and the lithology in the area is so
diverse,I thought it would be a great idea to get together and discuss our understanding of each site. In my
opinion,it would be helpful for me and my suppliers to make sure we have the same understanding of the
regional subsurface characteristics as you group does. In addition,I'd like to learn from your group what has
been successful in certain sections of the County. To that end,1'd like for us to meet in early January to
discuss the Chevron sites. i was thinking the attendees should include:you,Lori,Vicki,Jim,Nuel, myself,
someone from ARCADIS,STANTEC,HFA,and CRA,and.one of Chevron's hydrologists from our science,
research, and technology company. I'd really like this to be an information sharing session, where Chevron
and my suppliers will present lessons we've learned from the detailed works at our sites and where the County
could share with Chevron the lessons you've learned from the broader range of sites in the region. I'd also like
to make sure Chevron has an understanding of the driver's that the County faces on environmental cleanup
sites. Since our science, research, and technology company does a lot of studies nationwide on remedial
technology(both new and proven types),if your group would like Chevron to share knowledge on a particular
type of technology,i can see that our hydrologist has sort of a brown bag presentation to share.
Would a date sometime the.week of January 11 work for your group? Please let me know your thoughts.
Thank you,
