V
ARCADISBBL Ms. Victoria McCartney
October 19, 2007
...EHD believes a reduction in collecting groundwater samples from MW-5,
MW-7, MW-8, MW-13, MW-14, and MW-17 from quarterly to annually appears to
be adequate to track the plume and will approve such a reduction if requested.
The SJCEHD did not approve ARCADIS BBL's recommendation to destroy
monitoring wells MW-5, MW-7, MW-8 and MW-13 due to traffic hazards during
sampling, but did suggest a reduced sampling frequency for the wells listed above.
Therefore, ARCADIS BBL is requesting the following modifications to the
groundwater monitoring and sampling program:
• Continued quarterly monitoring of groundwater levels from the entire -V
monitoring well network
• Monitoring wells MW-3, MW-15 and MW-15D will be sampled on a quarterly
basis
ro
• Monit .r Pg wells MW-5, MW-6 MW-7, MW-8, MW13, MW-14;M 1W and r,
MW-17 will be sampled on an annual basis;,--'
asis
• The list of p alytes fmonitoring wells MW7,`MW-8, MW-14, MW-15ff, G
iq
MW-1 5D-,and MW-17 will include total petroleum hydrocarbons in the
gasoline range(TPH-G),total petroleum hydrocarbons in the diesel range tVs
(TPH=D), total petroleum hydrocarbons in the motor oil range (TPH-MO),
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes(BTEX),rnethy_I tertiary
butyl ether(MTBE)and tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA)
• The list of analytes for monitoring well MW-3 will include 1,2-dichloroethane °`'
(1,2-DCA), TPH-D and TPH-MO U
ISS -0
• The list of analytes for monitoring wells MW-5, MW?ff,MW-144and MWA6
will include TPH-D and TPH-MO
i
The sampling and analytical methodologies will remain consistent with previous
events and the samples will continue to be submitted to Lancaster Laboratories of
Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
EHD believes that MW-15 and MW-15D need to be redeveloped, using potable
water if necessary to flush debris from the well screens, and directs this to be '
done prior to the next sampling event.
Page:
2/3
010oo—ts and SeNngslaWor%Lx I Setlirgs\Temporary Intemet Res\OLK 00557 Response Letler.dx
