Bates
Chief Production Engineer
The Marley Cooling Tower Company
5800 Foxridge Road
Mission, Kansas 66202
Dear Mr. Bates:
COMMENTS ON DRAFT PLAN
The Department of Health Services (Department) has completed the
review of plans for remediation of subsurface (deep) soils and
ground water at The Marley Cooling Tower Company (MCTC) Stockton,
CA, facility. The plans, received 3 December 1990, were authored
and transmitted by Black & Veatch, Engineers-Architects.
From our review, the Department has concluded the information is
generally complete. Questions were raised however and are
presented in the enclosed memorandum. Due to the limited nature
of the required response, an addendum to design plans will be
considered sufficient. Submittal of the addendum addressing
comments must be made by 15 February 1991.
It is also our understanding the Regional Water Quality Control
Board will be providing you with review comments. Consequently,
upon satisfactory response to the Department' s and the Board ' s
concerns, MCTC may implement the ammended plans for remediation
of deep soils and ground water.
We appreciate your continued efforts to address the situation at
the Stockton facility. Should you have any questions regarding
our comments, please call me or Jim Austreng (916) 855-7857 .
Sincerely,
Anthony J.
