CENTRAL VALLRE REGIONAL WATER QUALITANTROL BOARD
INSPECTION REPORT
22 Jul 2002
SITE: Marley Cooling Technologies
LOCATION $ COUNTY: Stockton, San Joaquin County
CONTACT(S): Mr. David Lich
INSPECTION DATE: 16 July 2002, 1000 a.m.
INSPECTED BY: Jon Ericson, AWRCE,NPDES Section
Sudhakar Talanki, AWRCE, DoD/Clean-up Section
OBSERVATIONS AND COMMENTS:
On 16 July 2002, Sudhakar Talanki and I met with Mr. David Lieb of Marley Cooling to review the Marley
Cooling facility groundwater treatment facilities and observe the condition of the effluent discharge and
receiving water. Weather conditions at the time of the inspection were clear and warm.
The Marley Cooling facility is located on the east side of Stockton, south of Fremont Street. This facility
operated historically as a cooling tower fabrication plant, however fabrication operations ceased the day of this
inspection. As part of the fabrication operations, Marley Cooling previously operated a wood preservation
process utilizing solutions containing copper, chromium and arsenic. Wood preserving was discontinued at
this facility in January 1991,however past operational practices resulted in contamination of soils and
groundwater underlying the site.
> 1
.Calaveras River •
r
Outfall 001.
K
STOCKTO.v - ° ;
