Field
operations for the groundwater monitoring program are currently conducted by
GeoAnalytical Laboratories of Modesto, California. According to GeoAnalytical
personnel, there have been problems observed and documented while attempting to
sample several wells as part of the current sampling schedule. Dudek is asking for the
following wells to be dropped from the sampling schedule due to the problem associated
with the sampling of the well:
1. Columbini Irrigation well #2 — During the April 2001 sampling event,
GeoAnalytical personnel discovered that the well had been pulled out of the
ground and was lying on the ground next to the control panel. They were not
able to collect any sample from the well.
2. 5116 Irrigation — This well is being used to irrigate crop on the owners'
property and the only way to collect a sample from it is to turn on the
sprinklers. According to GeoAnalytical personnel, the owner has a padlock
on the control box and will not open it for them. They have tried to contact
the owner by leaving messages on his door and by talking to the occupants
renting the house on his property, but have not yet received a response.
3. Main Street Domestic—According to GeoAnalytical, they have not collected
a sample from this location for several years because the house is hooked up
to city water.
4. Main Street Irrigation - According to GeoAnalytical, they have not been
able to collect a sample from this well for several years because its pump is
frozen and the owners say they don't use it and have no plans to fix it.
H:\HazWaste\Hazwaste\Marley\Well Letter 5-25-Ol.doc
