Our comments regarding technical considerations follow.
1. We concur with a strategy which reduces or eliminates extraction from wells that
have clearly achieved cleanup objectives identified In the Remedial Action Plan
(RAP) and applies the resulting treatment capacity to areas of the plume closer to
the source of contamination that exceed these objectives. However, well 1-5
continues to show significantly higher levels of dissolved chromium (35 pgll) than
adjacent extraction and monitoring wells. Accordingly, we will require that this well
continue to be pumped In order to insure that the RAP objectives of reducing
chromium in the aquifer to health protective levels and levels consistent with
beneficial use are attained. Toward that end, DTSC will require continued operation
of well 1-5 for a minimum of four additional quarters at which time monitoring results
will be re-evaluated,
2. Further, in wells where groundwater extraction is being discontinued (1-2, 1-3. 1-4,
and 1-6), pumps shall be maintained in operational condition during this period.
3. As groundwater extraction from some areas of the shallow zone has been
discontinued for quite some time, addltional optimization efforts should evaluate
resuming extraction from the shallow zone especially in the source area.
The energy eha/lengo racing coftmia is maL Every cadiemian needs to take immediate ectlen to raduce energy consumption,
For a list of sowie ways you can mdoae demand and out your energy costs,Roe our web ette at www.dtac.c&gay.
® Printed on Recycled Paper
