Wagner Avenue
Stockton, California 95215
WORKPLAN FOR INSTALLATION OF GROUNDWATER EXTRACTION WELL S-9, MARLEY
COOLING TECHNOLOGIES FACILITY, STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
The Regional Water Quality Control Board (Regional Board) staff have reviewed the Workplan for
Installation of Groundwater Extraction Well S-9 received on 4 June 2004 prepared by Dudek &
Associates on behalf of SPX Corporation and Marley Cooling Technologies. In order to increase
hydraulic capture of the chromium plume, the Workplan proposes installation of one shallow zone
groundwater extraction well (S-9) and associated pump, controls, and piping to the existing remedial
well field. The proposed well is designed to pump 5 to 10 gallons per minute of water from the shallow
water-bearing zone.
Our comments on the Workplan are provided below:
1. You may proceed with installation of the extraction well and associated work provided that the
installation is conducted in accordance with the San Joaquin County requirements and an
appropriate permit is obtained from the County.
2. We understand that the work is anticipated to start in mid-to-late June 2004. Please provide
documentation to our office upon completion of the work.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at (916)464-4678 or e-mail at
TalanksQ,rb5s.swrcb.ca gov.
Sudhakar Talanki, P.E.
Water Resources Control Engineer
cc: Mr. Peter Quinlin, Dudek &Associates, Encinitas
Mr. Dan McGrade, SPX Corporation, Charlotte,North Carolina
Mr. Steven Ross, DTSC, Sacramento
Mr. Harlin Knoll, San Joaquin County Health Division, Stockton
California Environmental Protection Agency
pa Recycled Paper
