WORK NOTICE <br /> Marley Cooling Tower Company Facility <br /> 200 N. Wagner Avenue <br /> Stockton, California <br /> In-Situ Chromium Reduction Program — Starting January 7, 2008 <br /> The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) will oversee the in-situ reduction <br /> of chromium in groundwater. Approximately 509 soil borings and 7 horizontal wells will <br /> be completed as part of the clean-up of chromium contamination associated with the <br /> Former Marley Cooling Tower Company Facility. Treatment solution will be injected into <br /> the ground during the clean-up process. <br /> The following actions will be implemented during this process to ensure public safety <br /> and to minimize noise and dust: <br /> ■ Traffic controls will be implemented for work within public roads; access to driveways <br /> will be maintained, whenever possible <br /> ■ Drilling equipment used to advance the soil borings will be the smallest machines <br /> capable of completing the job, which will minimize noise and physical imposition <br /> ■ Equipment will be aligned at the injection sites to function as a noise barrier for <br /> public areas <br /> ■ Temporary sound barriers or walls may be erected to reduce noise to the public <br /> ■ Treatment solutions will be stored and prepared in designated areas away from <br /> public property <br /> ■ Waste materials (drill cuttings, decontamination fluids, and disposable personal <br /> protective equipment) will be placed into containers and stored in designated areas <br /> away from public property <br /> Work hours will be generally limited to 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. - Mondays through <br /> Fridays. <br /> Soil borings will be backfilled and made level with the surrounding ground surface to <br /> minimize physical hazards.
