f
Site Assessment Report April 5, 1991
139 South Center,Stockton,CA Page 5
SCOPE OF WORK
is
Subsurface soil and water conditions at this site were investigated to assess the presence and
extent of adsorbed or dissoW 4d subsudace gasoline hydrocarbons. The following is a summary of the
it
work performed for this 4nvestlgation:
o Obtained a well permit from the San Joaquin County Public Health Department,
Environments Health Division to install four groundwater-monftoring wells at this site. A
copy of the permit is lrx-uded in appendix A.
o Drilled and logged four on-slte soil borings. Soil boring krcations were selected to
assess the character of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons in the groundwater beneath
the site.
a Installed four,2-inch-diameter,polyvinyl chloride(PVC)groundwater-monitoring wells In
the soil borings. After installation, the wells were surveyed by a professional surveyor to
establish location and wellhead elevation.
r o Prepared this summary report, which Includes the results and findings of the
t-a Investigation.
Y
ti MONITORING-WELL INSTALI-ATION PROCEDURES
I kgs Four borings for the installation of groundwater-monitoring wells(MW-1,MW-2,
tq MW-3 an:i MWA)were drilled on site on February 14 and 15, 1991,and February 19, 1991. The
locations of these borings are shown on the Site Pian (Figure 2). The boring locations were selected
t primarily to determine the gradient and quality of the first saturated zone beneath the site. Each boring
was drilled usir g a truck-mounted rotary drill N with 85-inch outside-diameter(O.D.).hollow-stem
kn augers. Drilling was supervised by a Groundwater Technology field geologl;t,who maintained a
continuous log of the materials encountered In accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System
and selected so'f samples for possible laboratory analyses. For the borings for MW-1,MW-2 and MW-3,
a Moot-long core barrel was used to obtain a continuous core of the intervals drilled. Sail samples for
OROUNMATER
TEMOLOCY,INC.
