Li
PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES o
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION
Karen Furst, M.D., M.P.H., Health Officer `P..
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor Stockton, CA 95202 4`,Foa
2091468-3420
ROBERT COCHRAN APR Z04
CHEVRON PRODUCTS COMPANY
P O BOX 6004
SAN RAMON CA 94583-0904
RE: Chevron Service Station 9-0557
139 South Center Street
Stockton, CA 95202
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) has
reviewed the "Site Assessment"(report)prepared by Secor International Incorporated, dated
March 21, 2001. The report describes the eleven-year investigative history at the site located at
139 South Center Street in Stockton, California (site). The report explains in detail the most
recent investigation at the site, including the advancement of four direct push borings by cone
penetrometer testing(CPT) and four additional borings immediately adjacent to the CPT borings
for the purpose of collecting discrete groundwater samples. The groundwater samples were taken
to further evaluate the lateral and vertical extent of hydrocarbons, including methyl tertiary butyl
ether (MtBE) in groundwater.
The report concludes with the statement that, "data collected in this investigation suggests [sic]
that the contaminant plume has been defined to low to non-detect levels." Although the extent of
contamination has not been completely defined at the site, PHS/EHD concurs that after eleven
years, sufficient data have been collected to proceed to the next step. Therefore, PHS/EHD
directs you to prepare a corrective action plan and submit it to PHS/EHD by June 4, 2001, which
is approximately 60 calendar days from the date of this notice.
The previous caseworker for this site, Ron Rowe, is no longer with San Joaquin County. This site
will be assigned to a new caseworker in the near future. In the meantime, you may address your
reports to Dot Lofstrom and you may call her with any questions related to the site at(209)468-
3436.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Dot Lofstrom, R.G.
LOP/Site Mitigation
cc: Marty Hartzell —CVWRQCB
Roger Hoffmore - Secor
APR 1 0
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
