TL 489-0015-01 <br /> Page 2 <br /> Sampling Procedure <br /> The soil sample was obtained by Mr. Ray Kurz of our firm on <br /> December 23 , 1988- The samples were retrieved from a depth <br /> of approximately three__ feet_ below the bottom of the tank <br /> excavation. The soil samples were retrieved from the bucket <br /> of a backhoe using pre-cleaned brass cylinders, capped with <br /> aluminum foil followed by plastic caps, and immediately <br /> packed in ice for shipment to our laboratory. The samples <br /> were clearly identified and banded with shipping seals. The <br /> samples retrieved in the field were brought to our <br /> laboratory in Fresno, California on December 23 , 1988 . <br /> Test Methods <br /> The soil samples retrieved from the project site were <br /> analyzed for the following constituents using the listed EPA <br /> Methods. <br /> Benzene, Toluene, Xylenes SW-846: Methods 5020, 8020 <br /> Ethylbenzene <br /> Total Hydrocarbons SW-846: Methods 5020, 8015 <br /> (Total Reference: gasoline) <br /> Results of Soil Sample Analysis <br /> Date Sampled: 12-23-88 Date Received: 12-23-88 <br /> Ethyl- <br /> Sample Benzene Toluene benzene, Xylenes, Tilt Date <br /> I.D. kg / m/ /- Analyzed <br /> Soil #1, T-1, <br /> North End 0.40 0.05 ND ND 4.5* 12-28-88 <br /> Soil #2, T-1, <br /> South End 1.6 0.86 1.4 1.1 50* 12-20-88 <br /> MDT, 0.05 0.05 0.05 0.20 0.5 <br /> *These samples showed a hydrocarbon pattern lighter than gasoline. <br /> It could be aviation gas. They were calculated against a gasoline <br /> standard.
