Coveralls are removed by turning the clothing inside out. The extent of
washing required, or modifications to the sequence, may be specified by the
Health and Safety Officer, as appropriate. A typical personnel decontamination
sequence is as follows:
$ Step into designated decontamination area and scuff feet to remove gross
amounts of dirt from outer boots. If necessary, wash boots down with
clear water in designated wash area;
$ Wash outer work gloves with detergent and water;
$ Rinse outer work gloves;
$ Wash and rinse outer protective coverall and respirator. Taken from the drop area, the masks
will be disassembled, the cartridges set aside and the rest placed in a cleansing
solution. After an appropriate time within the solution, the parts will be removed
and rinsed off with tap water. The old cartridge will be discarded into the
contaminated trash container for disposal. In the morning the masks will be re-
assembled and new cartridges installed. Personnel will inspect their own masks
and perform pressure checks daily to be sure of proper readjustment of straps for
proper fit.
In addition to being inspected and decontaminated, all respirators, protective
clothing, and other personal articles must be sanitized before they can be used
again. The insides of masks and clothing become soiled from exhalation, body
oils, and perspiration. The manufacturer=s instructions shall be followed in
sanitizing the respirator mask. Protective clothing shall be washed after
decontamination.
ENV.':
A M E N I C A
November 2003
\\ENVSANFRAN\public\PG&E\PGE-05-01 Stockton MW26R Inve tigation\MW26 Work Plan\H&S\EXHIBIT C.doc
