The draft workplan was previously reviewed by the
Department and our recommendations were sent to PG&E via fax and
discussed in detail in our conference call on June 17, 1992 . The
Department's primary concern was, and remains, that the scope of
the proposed Phase II investigation may not be sufficient to
complete characterization of Area 1. Nevertheless, to proceed
with the investigation and to progress towards further
characterization of Area 1, the Department is hereby approving
the Phase II Workplan dated June 1992. Immediately: following
completion of the Phase II investigation, PG&E.,must:-submit a
complete evaluation of all data collected, to justify
completeness of characterization for Area- 1_and to .,identify. any
additional characterization that may be necessary.
Implementation of the workplan should commence upon receipt
of this approval. If you have any questions, please contact Mr.
Fernando Amador at (916) 855-7892.
Sincerely,
C' ^
aures L.
