Your
January 3 , 1992 amendment to the RI/FS workplan fails to provide
sufficient information to justify that the proposed sampling plan
for Area II will be adequate to characterize the soil. Please
provide sufficient background information to indicate the
appropriate depths and locations that should be sampled to
adequately characterize the soil. Based on the additional
background information, and on the results of the soil samples
already taken, an additional round of investigation may be
required for Area II. Additionally, the proposed project
schedule should include an evaluation period for treatability
studies prior to evaluating remedial action alternatives and
should also include a submittal date and review period for the
Baseline Risk Assessment.
Please address the above comments within fifteen (15) days
from receipt of this letter. Submittal of the above information
will satisfy all contingencies applied to the November 25, 1991
RI/FS approval letter. If you have any questions, please contact
Mr. Fernando Amador at (916) 855-7892.
Sincerely,
James L. Tjosvold, Chief
Sacramento Responsible Party Unit
Site Mitigation Branch
Region 1
cc: See next page.
