Box 806 <br /> Sacramento, California 95812-0806 <br /> Subject: PG&E Stockton <br /> PCA 11050, Site 100190-00 <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The Human and Ecological, Risk Section (HERS) was requested <br /> by Region 1, Site Mitigation Branch, to review the Human Health <br /> and Environmental Risk Assessments for the PG&E Stockton Former <br /> MGP site. The Region 1 Request Form is dated November 17 , 1992 . <br /> There was no site visit by the HERS staff. <br /> DOCUMENT REVIEWED <br /> "Remedial Investigation and Risk Assessment, PG&E Stockton <br /> Former MGP Site" , prepared by CH2M Hill (document stamped draft, <br /> not dated) . <br /> GENERAL COMMENTS <br /> The document was reviewed for consistency with guidelines . <br /> set forth in a memorandum issued by the Office of the Science <br /> Advisor, "Guidance for Risk Assessment for Town Gas Site" (OSA, <br /> 1992) . Section 7 , Human Health Risk Assessment; Section 8 , <br /> Environmental Risk Assessment; and Appendixes J, K, and L were <br /> reviewed. We have not scrutinized the site characterization <br /> data, and therefore our review is contingent upon the following: <br /> (1) the site characterization data presented in the document are <br /> accurate and complete; (2) acceptable analytical and sampling <br /> procedures were utilized; and (3) Region 1 staff have determined <br /> that the data accurately reflect the extent and magnitude of <br /> contamination at the site. <br /> Overall , the two-volume document is well-organized and well- <br /> written. However, the report is deficient in several key areas <br />
