Site Background Information - Fernando's Place
AGE-NC Project No. 00-0769
bsg, 115 feet to 120 feet bsg, 141 feet to 146 feet bsg, and 165 feet to 170 feet bsg.
Monitoring wells MW-4 and MW-5 were constructed with a fifth screened interval from
approximately 193 feet to 198 feet bsg.
A total of 28 soil samples were analyzed. The highest concentrations of petroleum
hydrocarbon compounds were detected from soil samples collected at between 40 feet and
60 feet bsg, in HU-1 Middle Zone. TPH-g was detected in soil samples collected from soil
borings MW-4, MW-5, and B-2 at concentrations as high as 4,500 milligrams per kilogram
(mg/kg) (MW4-58), 3,600 mg/kg (MW5-50), and 2,000 mg/kg (62-50).
Benzene was detected in soil samples collected from MW-4, MW-5, and B-2 at maximum
concentrations of 33 mg/kg(MW4-58),21 mg/kg(MW5-50), and 20 mg/kg(B2-50);toluene
was detected at maximum concentrations of 180 mg/kg (MW4-58), 100 mg/kg (MW5-50),
and 54 mg/kg (132-50); ethylbenzene was detected at maximum concentrations of 19.5
mg/kg (MW4-58), 30 mg/kg (MW5-50), and 13 mg/kg (62-50); and total xylenes were
detected at maximum concentrations of 224 mg/kg (MW4-58), 182 mg/kg (MW5-50), and
77 mg/kg (132-50).
The fuel additives DIPE, ETBE, MTBE,TAME, TBA, EDB and 1,2-DCAwere not detected
in the soil samples collected and analyzed from the three soil borings. Additional volatile
organic compounds(VOCs)detected in the analyzed samples included isopropyl benzene,
n-propylbenzene, 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene, 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene,p-isopropyl-toluene,and
naphthalene.
REMEDIATION WELL INSTALLATIONS
Between 21 and 22 February 2007, a total of six soil borings were advanced at the site to
vertical depths of 30 feet bsg. Borings SVE-1 through SVE-3 were advanced at the
southwest edge of the property, nearthe former UST No. 3 excavation area. Borings SVE-
4 through SVE-6 were advanced in the northeast corner of the property, near the former
UST No. 1 and UST No. 2 areas. Between 14 and 16 March 2007, a total of four soil
borings were advanced at the site. Boring EW-1 was advanced at the southwest edge of
the property, near the former UST No. 3 excavation area, to a vertical depth of 50 feet bsg.
Borings EW-2, EW-3, and EW-4 were advanced in the northeast corner of the property to
vertical depths of 120, 50, and 50 feet bsg, respectively.
A total of twelve SVE soil samples were analyzed for the petroleum hydrocarbons
constituents. TPH-g were detected in soil samples collected from SVE-3 at 25 feet bsg
(SVE3-25) and SVE-4 at 25 feet bsg (SVE4-25) at concentrations of 2.5 milligrams per
kilogram (mg/kg) and 1.0 mg/kg, respectively. BTEX compounds were detected in soil
samples SVE4-25, SVE5-20 and SVE5-25 at maximum concentrations of 0.26 mg/kg
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
