' a INTRODUCTION Philip Services Corporation (PSC) performed groundwater-monitoring activities at the former Earthgrains Baking Companies, Inc facility (Kilpatrick's Bakeries, Inc ) in April 2004 This report summarizes the results of those activities r1.1 Site Description The project site is located at 1717 South Center Street in Stockton, California ' (see Figure 1) Up to 1988, this property was operated by Kilpatrick's Bakeries, Inc as a bakery products storage depot The current property owner, Mr Ismael Rivera of Stockton, California, operates an auto body and ' furniture repair business The property comprises about 9,000 square feet, including an approximate ' 4,000 square feet, sheet metal-constructed building that is built on a slab-on- grade spread footing (see Figure 2, Site Plan) There is no basement structure associated with this building The majority of the site and the area around the former underground storage tank (UST) are paved with asphalt or concrete Other properties in the vicinity comprise a mix of commercial and residential properties Edison High School is situated about three blocks to the north An operating gasoline station, which is the subject of an existing San Joaquin County leaking UST case, is located about 1 block to the north on the east side ' of South Center Street The closest private residence to the former UST area is situated about 150 feet to the southwest The closest surface water body is the Mormon Slough, located about 4,500 feet to the north The property east of the site, across South Center Street at 1725 El Dorado Street, is a business currently operated as Glass Replacement and Supplies ' This property is situated on a traffic island between South Center and El Dorado Streets Historic information indicates that this property was formerly operated as a retail gasoline station until about 1986 12 Chronology of UST-Related Events ' A 1,000-gallon gasoline UST located beneath the sidewalk along South Center Street, an associated fuel dispenser located within the property ' building, and the portion of product piping from the UST to the building were removed in December 1990 The remaining product piping, from the edge of 4 April 2004 Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report Earthgrams Baking Companies,Inc (Former Kilpatrick s Bakeries Inc) 1717 South Center Street Stockton California Prepared for SARA LEE BAKFRV GROUP Prepared by Philip Services Corp January 18,2005 H 1ENV,62400132U21]82ECiTTuiects\Stockron Center 50invesiiganve and Quarterly Reporrs�Quarterly Report 04_2004 doc ry
