This wort plan has been prepared in response <br /> to a letter from Mr.Michael J.lnfuma Jr.of San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services-Environmental Health Division(SJCPHS-EH dated February 20,1998 <br /> (Attachment A). The purpose of this work is to define the vertical and horizontal extent <br /> of diesel and gasoline hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater and to locate the source of <br /> and delineate solvent contamination in soil and groundwater. This will be accomplished <br /> by installing one upgradient groundwater monitories well(U-5),one off-site <br /> do—gradient gmi ndwater monitoring well(U-4 and one continuous core soil boring <br /> 03-4)in the location of the former waste oil tank. A discrete water sample will be <br /> coliected from boring B-4. <br /> This work plan includes a brief discussion of site background,previous investigations, <br /> proposed scope of work,and schedule. Field and laboratory procedures are presented as <br /> Attachment B. <br /> S1'I'E BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS 1NVESTTGATIONS <br /> The site was reportedly an operating Unocal service station fiom 1920 through 1962. <br /> Two underground storage wank(UST)complexes have existed at the site. A cluster of <br /> three US is located at the northern property boundary adjacent to 110 Street were <br /> identified as"abandoneir'and a second cluster of three tanks to the south were <br /> identified as active LISTS. The property was purchased by Bank of America and the <br /> service station was demolished in 1962.
