In my last
correspondence to you dated January 25, 1996, I indicated that Unocal was evaluating three
UST closure options, and that selection of a final closure method was pending written
concurrence or contention for each option from the City of Tracy Department of Public Works
(the City). To this date,we have not received any coffespondence from the City.
Unocal has evaluated all UST closure options, (1)USTclosure-in-place, (2)direct excavation
and UST removal,and(3)side excavation and UST reImoval. Given the site conditions, Unocal
has selected closure-in-place as the most feasible method for proper abandonment of the USTs.
Unocal is currently completing the UST closure permit application and a closure-in-place work
i
plan in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health
Division Form 23-0-119.1 The application and work plwill be submitted to your office and to the
City by April 12, 1996'.
