Quarterly Summ ry Report <br /> Fourth Quarter 1995 <br /> Former Unocal Service Station 0123 <br /> 1034 Central Avenue <br /> Tracy, California <br /> City/County ID#; Unknown <br /> County: San Joaquin <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The site was-reportedly an operating Unocal service station from approximately 1920 <br /> through 1962.. Two underground storage tank(UST) complexes have existed at the site. A <br /> cluster of three USTs located at the northern property boundary adjacent to 11th Street, . <br /> :were identified as "abandoned" on a general arrangement plan, and a second cluster of three <br /> tanks to the south were identified as active USTs. The property was purchased by Bank of <br /> America and the service station was demolished in 1962. The site is currently an asphalt- <br /> paved parking lot owned by and servicing the Wells Fargo Bank located immediately to the <br /> south. A limited subsurface'investigation was conducted by LMS and is detailed in a <br /> March 29, 1994, Phase I Report, Addendum 1. As requested by the San Joaquin County <br /> Public Health Services, Environmental Health Divii ion, Unocal submitted a work plan <br /> dated, October 13, 1994, to perform a soil and groundwater investigation. Nixie soil <br /> borings and three groundwater momtoringwells were installed in May 1995; Exploratory <br /> test pitting was performed on the.property in June and encountered two abandoned UST's <br /> at the-northern property boundary, beneath the 11th Street sidewalk. . <br /> RECENT QUARTER ACTIVITIES <br /> Fourth quarter groundwater monitoring was performed in December 1995. A report <br /> documenting the soil-and groundwater investigatil was submitted to Unocal'and San <br /> -Joaquin County in December 1995 Unocal initiated preparation of a closure plan to <br /> properly.abandon the two USTs located beneath the 11th Street sidewalk: <br /> NEXT QUARTER ACTIVITIES <br /> The fourth quarter 1995 groundwater monitoring reportwill be summitted. A closure plan' <br /> addressin the ro er nt of the two USTs will be u d Unocal will <br /> abandon the USTs.
