Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0338
SUBJECT: SOIL AND GROUNDWATER ASSESSMENT REPORT
FORMER UNOCAL SERVICE STATION 0123
1034 CENTRAL AVENUE
TRACY, CALIFORNIA
Dear Mr. Infurna:
Attached are Well Fargo Bank's (WFB) comments on the subject report which was prepared by
Pacific Environmental Group (PEG) on behalf of UNOCAL. Please note that our comments are
dated November 16, 1995, and pertain to a draft report. The final report dated November 22, 1995
which was transmitted by PEG to your agency does not incorporate WFB's concerns which we
believe are necessary to protect WFB's interests as well as identifying impacts to the site and
surrounding properties from the former UNOCAL station. Of immediate concern is the need for
UNOCAL to remove the underground storage tanks WiSTs) before they proceed with further.site
characterization. WEB is adamant about not EMIT the USTs to jbe abandoned in place as
rec'oMmended in the PEG report. We ask your assistance in requiring UNOCAL to comply with all
- -- the requests as specified in the attached comments in order for WFB to proceed with.marketing the
property and to further identify any impacts resulting from the former UNOCAL station. We
would appreciate your response to our requests. If you have any questions or comments, please
contact me.
Sincerely,
Thomas Stoflet ,
Assistant Chief,
Environmental Services
cc: Arthur Barbour
MAC 0 18 8-229
