4 h" KLEINFELDER File No. 20-4054-01.E01 May 1, 1997 Final Geotechnical Investigation Report We propose to prepare the final geotechnical investigation report by drilling three (3) borings to depths between 15 and 25 feet below the existing ground surface. Two (2) of the borings will be drilled within the proposed building footprint and one (1) will be drilled in the parking area. The borings will be drilled with truck-mounted drilling equipment using hollow-stem augers. The purpose of our geotechnical investigation will be to evaluate the surface and sub-surface soil conditions at the site and to provide recommendations for the following items: • Plot plan and vicinity map showing the approximate locations of site and field explorations performed for our investigation • Log of test borings • Results of laboratory tests • Recommended type and depth of foundations including maximum allowable soil and lateral earth pressures • Recommended support of concrete slab-on-grade floors • Recommended site preparation and grading • Recommended pavement sections An Kleinfelder field engineer or geologist will maintain continuous logs of the soils encountered in the borings and will obtain samples for visual observation, classification, and laboratory testing. Laboratory tests will be performed on selected soil samples obtained from the borings in order to evaluate the moisture, density, strength, gradation, and compressibility characteristics of the materials encountered. In addition, one bulk soil sample for Resistance-Value(R-Value)testing for use in pavement sections design will be obtained of the near-surface soils from the approximate locations of the proposed paved areas. The results of our field explorations, laboratory testing, and engineering analyses will be summarized in a written report prepared under the guidance of a registered geotechnical engineer. In preparing our report, our firm will make use of existing information obtained from previous projects in the site area for which we have provided services over the last 36 years that Kleinfelder, Inc. has been in existence. These projects include such diverse projects as the Tracy Auto Plaza, regional Safeway Distribution Center, West Valley Mall, various projects at Tracy Community Memorial Hospital, Market Wholesale Warehouse, Leprino Foods, Orchard Supply Hardware distribution center, Costco Distribution Center, Tracy Outlet Mall, Tracy Police Station, numerous subdivisions within the City of Tracy, and the U.S. Cold Storage facility. 20-4054-OI.E01-G0112017P036 Page 4 of 7 Copyright 1997 Kleinfelder,Inc.
